In an effort to mitigate the impact of the ongoing partial federal government shutdown on employees of the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) in Puerto Rico, Governor Jenniffer González-Colón, alongside Secretary of the Treasury Ángel L. Pantoja Rodríguez and Executive Director of the Puerto Rico Federal Affairs Administration (PRFAA) Gabriella Boffelli, announced an extension of the tax filing deadline. This measure is intended to provide relief to qualifying federal employees, allowing them to meet their tax obligations without incurring penalties or interest.

Three new, state-of-the-art “Metal Shark” tactical vessels will begin preventive patrol operations along Puerto Rico’s coastal areas starting today, including beaches and natural reserves in the eastern region of the Island. The announcement was made by Governor Jenniffer González Colón, alongside Fajardo Mayor José Aníbal Meléndez-Méndez, Speaker of the House Carlos 'Johnny' Méndez-Núñez, and Secretary of the Department of Natural and Environmental Resources (DNER), Waldemar Quiles-Pérez.
