Friday, October 3, 2025 — Washington, D.C. — Gabriella Boffelli, Executive Director of the Puerto Rico Federal Affairs Administration (PRFAA), and Dan Sachs, Vice President of State Policy at Meta, announced today that Meta AI services integrated into smart glasses are now available to residents of Puerto Rico.
By collaborating directly with Meta, PRFAA was able to ensure that Meta's artificial intelligence features would be activated across Puerto Rico on the Meta AI app, Ray-Ban Meta, and Oakley Meta glasses.
Since her tenure as Resident Commissioner, Governor Jenniffer González-Colón has consistently championed initiatives to ensure Puerto Rico’s inclusion in technological advancements and in decisions that shape economic development and quality of life for all Puerto Ricans.
“Governor Jenniffer González-Colón has remained steadfast in her commitment to ensuring that Americans living in Puerto Rico have full access to the technologies, services, and benefits already available across the states,” said Gabriella Boffelli, Executive Director of PRFAA. “We appreciate Meta for taking swift action and collaborating to ensure equitable access to emerging technologies for the people of Puerto Rico.”
Dan Sachs, Vice President of State Policy at Meta, added: “We are grateful for the ongoing, open communication with PRFAA, which is instrumental in ensuring access to all Meta products and services, including Meta AI, throughout Puerto Rico. We also commend the Governor's office for recognizing the advantages of AI and look forward to a continued, productive partnership.”
Smart glasses powered by Meta AI provide users with real-time audio descriptions of text and objects, assisting with tasks such as reading menus, identifying signs, and navigating documents.
PRFAA reaffirms its commitment to working across sectors to ensure Puerto Rico is represented and included in the deployment of emerging technologies nationwide.
