Tuesday, March 17, 2026 – San Juan, Puerto Rico – Today, Governor Jenniffer González-Colón announced the launch of the Puerto Rico Logistics and Cargo Ecosystem Interactive Map during the Health and Personal Care Logistics Conference, an event that brought together more than 250 professionals from the bioscience manufacturing sector and logistics and supply chain service providers.
The Governor made the announcement alongside Secretary Sebastián Negrón-Reichard of the Puerto Rico Department of Economic Development and Commerce (DDEC, for its Spanish acronym). The new digital platform aims to centralize information on Puerto Rico’s logistics infrastructure and make it easier for companies and investors to identify available capabilities across the island.
“In today’s economy, the ability to move products with certainty and speed is just as critical as the ability to produce them. Puerto Rico has the assets, the location, and the talent to serve as a key logistics hub in the hemisphere,” Governor González-Colón said.
The platform, available at https://mapalogistico.ddec.pr.gov, allows users to view more than 110 logistics facilities across Puerto Rico, including airports, seaports, warehouses, freight forwarders, customs brokers, and other specialized service providers. Information is organized into twelve categories that reflect the different components of the island’s supply chain.
For the first time, the system also includes a public digital directory of companies operating under the Foreign Trade Zone (FTZ) program in Puerto Rico, providing greater visibility into how these zones connect with the island’s logistics infrastructure.
“Puerto Rico has a robust logistics ecosystem that supports global supply chains. However, information about these assets has traditionally been scattered across multiple sources,” said Secretary Negrón-Reichard. “This tool allows us to visualize that ecosystem in an integrated way and helps companies and investors quickly understand the capabilities available to move goods into and out of the island.”
The initiative is part of the work of the Puerto Rico Air Cargo Task Force, a collaborative group established by Governor González-Colón that brings together airlines, logistics operators, manufacturers, and infrastructure providers to strengthen the competitiveness of the sector. The group builds on initiatives the Governor advanced while serving in Congress to position Puerto Rico as a recognized air cargo hub in the Caribbean. During that process, the need to consolidate key information about the jurisdiction’s logistics capabilities into a single publicly accessible platform was identified.
The project was developed in collaboration with the Polytechnic University of Puerto Rico, whose students and faculty worked alongside DDEC in the design and development of the platform. The initial database was built using more than one hundred responses received through a Request for Information (RFI) distributed to companies in the logistics sector.
Among its features, the platform includes a bilingual artificial intelligence assistant that enables users to search for logistics services and locate facilities across different regions of Puerto Rico.
The Secretary noted that this first phase serves as a proof of concept that will continue evolving with the integration of additional data related to trade flows, logistics capacity, and infrastructure. As the platform expands, it is expected to serve as a valuable tool for investment promotion, supply chain planning, and business development.
“When the logistics ecosystem becomes visible, it becomes easier to understand. And when it is easier to understand, it also becomes easier to invest in,” Negrón-Reichard added.
DDEC invited companies and stakeholders in the logistics sector to explore the platform and share feedback or suggestions at communications@ddec.pr.gov.
