August 28, 2025 - Washington, D.C. – Before the start of the U.S. Congress’ new legislative session, the Executive Director of the Puerto Rico Federal Affairs Administration (PRFAA), Gabriella Boffelli, outlined several federal priorities that Governor Jenniffer González-Colón will be advancing in Washington, D.C. to further the well-being of Puerto Rico. These include promoting economic growth and social development by leveraging reshoring opportunities, advancing the transition from the Nutrition Assistance Program (NAP) to the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP), advancing discussions on Medicaid, and ensuring that Puerto Rico secures critical resources—from federal appropriations to investments in security and infrastructure.
“Puerto Rico cannot afford to stand still. That is why the Governor and her team continue to promote our federal priorities, even when Congress is in recess. When the session resumes next week, Congress will not only be reviewing budget measures that fund federal agencies and programs, but also revisiting crucial issues such as FEMA reform, authorization of water resources and maritime security projects, and the Farm Bill—where we continue to advocate for the transition from NAP to SNAP and greater support for our farmers,” said Boffelli.
“We remain focused on advancing an agenda that directly responds to the needs of our people. As Resident Commissioner, the Governor secured important progress in Medicaid, security, and recovery efforts. We will continue building on those accomplishments to deliver lasting reforms that ensure opportunity and prosperity for Puerto Rico,” added PRFAA’s Executive Director.
